My May Camping Trip Day 2
This was the final day of our May Camp. I was already missing it because I had so much fun and I did not want to return to my test-homework-assignment filled school. We could not eat breakfast because our pan had eggs sticking on it and so we had to eat plain cereal. In the afternoon, we had boiled weeners and ketchup. YUM. After that we had our tests on knots, map and compass and stoves. OH yea I forgot, over the course of our meals, our stoves had lit on fire so many times. Not only that, I had witnessed seeing someone go on fire, well not exactly. The fire had lit her sweater on fire and when she found out, she literally did the procedure of stop, drop and roll. After that, she found a big, gaping hole on her sweater, poor girl. When she gets home, her mom will wonder how she got the hole. Oh well, during my knot test, we did the sheepbend, adjustable and reef knot. They were not that hard. The map and compass was a breeze and the stove was just easy. I just used a match to light my stove and ta-da I passed. However I really love using zippos, they are so much easier than matches and so much cooler. After that, it was the end our our may camp. As we were walking back from the campsite to the parking lot, 4 of us ran to the parking lot. It took us literally 15 minutes to run there so I wonder how long it would be to walk. When we got the parking lot, our counsellor started yelling at us because apparently, there was one person who was left behind and was lost. We thought he had planned this and were just miserable because we were all exhausted. However when we found this lost guy we found out he was actually lost because he had been the last person to leave the campsite with a 3 bags and a cooler. Also he had gotten lost because he did not know where the exit was. As we returned back to the parking lot to leave for home, we found out we lost another member. OMG, this member while trying to find the lost member had gotten lost herself. This was just sad and we ended up wasting an hour trying to find 2 lost members. I was tired and sweaty. I learned another big lesson for the day: never run ahead of your group because you never know if your group may get lost.
