Survival Camp Day 3

It was sad that all of it was over so soon and I was back to my summer school life. It was sad to say goodbye to all my friends again but I will see them next week because of the Gold Practice Hike. We got up with an empty stomach but we had nothing but only a fruit cup to fill that growling stomach. We had another good time canoeing for like 5 hours with waves this time. It was hard work especially from waves and more waves from motor boats that kept coming by. We decided to ask how fast we were canoeing from a motor boat and he said our speed was not registered which meant it was under 10km/h. That was terribly saddening.

Then we found ourselves at the back of all the canoes and we felt that we were kind of slow. We thought that our canoe was kind of low but our counsellors said it was not. So we thought it was because we kept zigzagging and we were not always on a straight path which meant we were wasting a lot of effort because we had to keep turning. (BTW I was not steering by this time) And then we thought it was because we were not steering right and that we were not doing the J-shape stroke. Finally we found out that it was because of our weight distribution. I was in the front of the canoe with two other small girls at the back. Apparently it was harder to paddle with the front of the boat lower than the back. Usually a canoe would be with the front higher than the back but this time it was different which resulted in our slowness. We came across a small rapid and I got up from our canoe and walked my canoe against the currents to get up. It was extremely tiring but we came across an amazing surprise in the end.

Guess what it was!? Even I was not ready for it. So as we were paddling across the lake, we came across an amazing good smell. The smell of barbeque and hamburgers. Then one of my partners were screaming VEGGIE Burger because she didn't eat it for like a long time and she was the only one vegetarian. She was not entirely vegetarian too.... and a peskitarian, which was able to eat seafood. Oh well, we kept paddling after smelling the good smell and thought we would have to continue paddling for the next while. Then suddenly we saw all our canoes parked up on the shore. We were in for a surprise right there. We were going to have a BBQ with chips, hamburgers, soda, hot dogs, chili, pasta, mashed potatoes and more food! Apparently the smell that we smelled was from the backyard and this was the biggest reward we ever had. I had loved it because we were all starving and thought we were going to be eating from our menu which was one small hot dog.

Just as we finished and we were all fat, we were going to canoe for like 3 more hours before we got to the point where we had to unload our canoes. It was especially tiring with our slow canoe problem. My arms were extremely sore from this and my legs had a sunburn because I was stupid enough not to put on sun-tan lotion. Throughout all our canoeing, the water was all brown and warm. There was no fish or anything alive. Not only we had to drink this through a filter. Thank god I was able to survive all three days with 2 bottles of water that I had brought from home. While others were filtering water crazy and it was extremely time-consuming with just to filter one bottle.

Right now, I had just took a 3 hour nap and I got up with my arms sore, almost unable to type. I must finish my summer school work now!.
